Purpose:  Provide students with habits that enable them to achieve their life goals

 

 

Goal 1: Students will be globally competitive through the mastery of a relevant and rigorous curriculum

  • Met Expected Growth each year
  • Overall proficiency increased above state and district proficiency rates
  • Implemented 13 out of 16 habits from Habits of Mind
  • Working through PLCs to use data to drive instruction
  • Differentiated PD to focus on Literacy, Technology and Global Awareness

 

 

Goal 2: SSE School and students will be led by creative, passionate and technologically skilled professionals

  • Utilized BePLC Training and implemented PLC planning for grade levels
  • Differentiated PD through the ERPD Plan to include; Literacy, Technology, Habits of Mind, Exceptional Children and Global Awareness
  • Provided 90 minute planning times every week to foster successful PLCs
  • 100% certified teachers completed professional training sessions on ERPD plans
  • Mentor program developed Summersill packet for new teachers

 

 

Goal 3: Students will learn in a safe and civil environment to be ethical, healthy and productive citizens

  • Digital Citizenship skills taught throughout the school and during Computer Enrichment classes
  • School Safety Committee reviews procedures and conducts monthly drills
  • Habits of Mind are integrated in every classroom
  • Monthly recognition for students and staff exhibiting positive character traits and habits
  • Student participation in Girls on the Run and STRIDE continue to increase

 

 

Goal 4: Leadership will foster innovation at SSE in cooperation with families and community partners

  • Increased parent participation as noted on school surveys
  • Utilized school website, Facebook, monthly newsletters and call/messenger system to increase parent communication of events
  • Increased community involvement in Career Day activities
  • Groups of students visited CCCC, UNC-CH and Duke University
  • Added Spanish to Enrichment schedule for students K-5

 

 

 

Goal 5: SSE will be supported by effective and efficient processes and systems

  • School and teacher websites were developed and updated
  • Created a Summersill Facebook page to communicate with stakeholders
  • Established a Digital Army to introduce technology resources to all stakeholders
  • Utilized Technology Facilitator to provide staff with resources and training
  • Utilized committees and encouraged parents and stakeholders to provide feedback to the committees

 

 

Overall Successes

  • Overall proficiency on EOG assessments were above state and district averages
  • Highest Science EOG proficiency in the district
  • Continuous academic growth for students
  • Habits of Mind focus integrated in every classroom
  • Differentiated Professional Development opportunities for staff

 

 

 

Continued and Necessary Next Steps

  • Continue implementation of Habits of Mind and increase visibility of habits around campus
  • Continue to utilize data in PLCs to inform and drive instruction
  • Continue to utilize technology for classroom instruction and communication with stakeholders
  • Increase participation in global programs and activities
