S.L.A.N.T. (Student Leadership and News Team)

  • Advisors: M. Gill, C. Stevenson
  • What ages/grades is your club for? 4th grade and 5th grade
  • How does someone join your club? Applications are available in the early fall. Students must turn in applications by the posted deadline. Interviews will be held and applications discussed with teachers to choose S.L.A.N.T. members.
  • When is your club offered?  Year-round, meetings held once or twice a week during school hours (*occasionally there will be an after school/before school meeting)
  • What is your club about?  S.L.A.N.T. students will create and produce a school news program.  S.L.A.N.T. student are leaders and role models for all the Summersill Eagles and are held to extremely high leadership and behavior standards. The news team will prepare the content for each news broadcast, which may include school announcements, community news, lunch menus, the weather forecast, book reviews, etc. In addition, the news team will learn how to operate audiovisual equipment to prepare the broadcasts.
